Following our budget setting process for the coming financial year 26/27, please be advised that charges at The Pickaquoy Centre will increase by 10% for the year ahead. Please note however, ActiveLife membership pricing will remain frozen until such time that all Picky services are back on line.
We want to thank all our customers once again for their continued support of The Pickaquoy Centre and their patience whilst we manage our way through the ongoing challenges which have been presented to us. A fresh update on the current closures will be given to customers next week.
James Linklater, The Pickaquoy Centre Trust's Managing Director, said: “The current local and global financial climate continues to impact us directly with a further reduction in our core funding for the year ahead, as was the case during 25/26. This along with the conflicts in Ukraine and The Middle East which continue to drive cost upwards for the operating requirements of the Centre have influenced our decision making significantly. Current opening hours will be maintained within this budget year and we are pleased to have achieved this given the budgetary challenges faced.
We are proud to maintain our status as a ‘Scottish Real Living Wage’ employer, acknowledging the great work which the Picky Team do in delivering our services to the Orkney community.
We understand that all in society are dealing with their own individual challenges, but we hope that our customers continue to see the value in our services and agree, that we, in Orkney, are very lucky to have the facilities we have across our community.
The Trust will endeavour to find additional external funding where possible, with the aim of enhancing the facilities on offer and as such, we hope to begin the construction of a new Mountain Bike Trail this Spring. Watch our socials over the coming months to see the progress."
