ActiveLife and ActiveIslands members receive discount to local campsites

Tuesday, March 9, 2021

ActiveLife and ActiveIslands members are encouraged to ‘Staycation’ in Orkney next month with a special offer for local campsites and hostels.

The Pickaquoy Centre and Orkney Islands Council are offering members a 25% discount to the Orkney Caravan Park and all OIC campsites and available hostels for the month of April.

The discount will be offered at the following campsites and hostels:

  • Orkney Caravan Park
  • Birsay Campsite (Birsay Hostel closed for the 2021 season)
  • Point of Ness Campsite – Stromness
  • Hoy Centre
  • Rackwick Hostel – Hoy

James Linklater, Managing Director of The Pickaquoy Centre, said: “We are delighted to be reopening the campsite again after 18 months of closure.

“We were keen to offer a special thank you to our loyal customers who have continued to support us throughout these last few months, and thought with current travel restrictions still in place, this would be an ideal offering as we enter the Spring season.

“We’ve put a great deal of effort into ensuring the Orkney Caravan Park will maintain the same level of safety as seen in the centre, with enhanced cleaning procedures in place, along with clear signage and a lower capacity available.”

Garry Burton, Orkney Islands Council Sport and Leisure manager, said: “Our campsites and hostels offer an excellent way to enjoy a break without leaving Orkney. As Orkney will continue to be in Level 3 during April, we want to encourage locals to stay at our sites and enjoy what our islands have to offer. With ActiveLife or ActiveIslands members being able to take advantage of the exclusive 25% discount on all campsite and hostel bookings.”

Due to ongoing UK wide travel restrictions still in place, April bookings will be limited to local residents and individuals that fall within the essential travel category.

To ensure that an authorisation process is being carried out, there will be no online bookings available for the month of April.

For bookings to the Orkney Caravan Park, phone 01856 879900. Visitors can also find full details on the Orkney Caravan Park website.

All booking requests for OIC facilities should to be made via telephone on 01856 873535, or email stromnesscs@orkney.gov.uk.
