Information for members - ActiveLife changes from 1 April 2024

Wednesday, March 20, 2024

Firstly, we want to thank all our members once again for their continued support of the ActiveLife programme and we hope that this fantastic membership continues to help you all to achieve a healthier lifestyle, both physical and mental.

The membership scheme still has great levels of engagement across the county since its inception, with 6581 Orkney residents now enjoying its benefits.

James Linklater, The Pickaquoy Centre Trust's Managing Director, said: “The ethos of the scheme, to get ‘More People, More Active, More often’ remains the same, with continuous review ensuring the membership can evolve and remain attractive to the wider community, is sustainable for the future and allows for reinvestment to enhance facilities and activities across the county. With this in mind, there will be some changes to the scheme from April 1 2024.”

There will be a price increase to the individual and family memberships:

  • An individual membership will now be £27.50 per month
  • A family membership will now be £38.50 per month
  • Budget membership will increase to £1.00 per activity (first increase since January 2017)

The ActiveIslands option for isles residents will remain unchanged.

James continued: “Over the last three years we have seen our LeisureLink Partnership develop and Orkney ActiveLife members are now able to use facilities in 8 regions across Scotland. The LeisureLink Partnership allows ActiveLife members to access gym, public swimming and fitness classes at leisure centres across Aberdeen, Angus, Argyll and Bute, The Borders, Highland, Moray, Shetland and The Western Isles - all at no extra cost.

The infographic shows what great value this membership is - and as the slogan encourages, the ‘more often’ you use it, the greater value you gain in terms of your health and financially!

As a charitable trust, any surplus within our operating cost is reinvested back into the community we serve through enhancements of our programme of activities or refreshed equipment within our centre.

We always welcome feedback – if you have any suggestions for the scheme in the future, please email memberships@pickaquoy.com.“
