Together The Pickaquoy Centre and sportscotland have created a fully functional Strength and Conditioning facility equipped with lifting platforms and apparatus to assist both Orkney’s high performance athletes and general users interested in this efficient form of exercise.

Please note, the Strength and Conditioning gym will be CLOSED for private use every week at the following times:

Mondays 4pm – 6.15pm
Wednesdays 4pm – 5.15pm
Fridays from 3pm – 6.15pm. 

The Functional Training area will still be open to the public during these times. There may be other sporadic times when these areas are unavailable, please check here ahead of your visit. 

Functional Training

Adjacent to the Strength and Conditioning Area is our Functional Training facility. Functional Training is any type of exercise that has a direct relationship to the activities you can perform in your daily life.

Strength and Conditioning and Functional Training Induction
Anyone wishing to use our Strength and Conditioning and Functional Training area has to complete an induction first.

The inductions will go over health and safety procedure on how to use the area correctly, instruct the area is for individuals who are wishing to improve their sporting performance and there are only select exercises that can take place in the racks and platforms.
